Natasha Hroneska, Macedonia:
The summer school was very well organized and indeed enjoyable. The opportunity to interact with academics, businessmen and politicians from the Caspian region and from around the world, and to learn for the future of the energy supply in Azerbaijan from the people that actually craft the energy politics on a global level was a unique experience.
Claudia Mahn, Germany:
ADA’s summer school on Energy Politics and Economics was a great enrichment for me, on an academic, professional and personal level. Extraordinary faculty, a diverse international student body and inspiring discussion on energy left me with an exceptional learning experience that is hard to find somewhere else.
Laura Vitullo, Italy:
I think the summer school has been a great opportunity to learn about Azerbaijan, its culture and people. Talking, discussing and sharing views and backgrounds helped me a lot in opening my mind to new perspectives and convinced me to go back to the energy sector!
Program Description
The 2009 Baku Summer Energy Academy examined major issues in energy politics and economics in the contemporary international system. A special emphasis was put on the unique challenges and perspectives of energy exporters, addressing issues such as the current dynamics of oil and gas markets, investments in energy production under price volatility, impact of emerging climate change regimes on energy exporters, and revenue management. The program also examined the interplay between international politics and energy supply, discussed issues such as the use of energy supply to promote foreign policy agendas and looked at the emerging trends in Caspian natural gas export.
The program was interactive in its format and provided extensive opportunity for professionals in the field of energy to interact and build long-lasting ties. It also gave opportunity to meet public and private sector leaders from Azerbaijan as well as other countries of the Caspian region.
Upon completion of the program, the participants were issued a certificate by the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.
