Baku, Azerbaijan - The 2-week course titled "Key issues of the world economy for countries with transition economies" covered various aspects of the global economy including trade, financial flows, macroeconomic policies and development in a globalizing economy, the financial crisis and macroeconomic policy responses, the risks of sovereign finance and ways of tackling macroeconomic challenges of resource-rich economies.

Baku, Azerbaijan- The Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Dr. Ali Abbasov, delivered a lecture about the ICT developments of Azerbaijan and global tendencies in the IT sector, noting that in the past five years approximately 1 billion dollars were invested in the IT industry in Azerbaijan, of which the private sector raised around 80 percent. In the same period, the use of the internet and other communication technology, including mobile telephony, witnessed a 5-fold increase.

Baku, Azerbaijan - The Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) and University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing academic cooperation. According to the memorandum, ADA and the University of Glasgow will collaborate on student, faculty and administrative staff exchange and conduct joint research projects.

Baku, Azerbaijan- Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) held graduation ceremony for the Advanced Foreign Service Program, attended by Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, as well as senior representatives of government agencies, the diplomatic corps and the private sector. ADA Rector, Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev delivered the keynote speech at the ceremony, stating that it was an auspicious coincidence that the graduation ceremony was held on the eve of Republic Day.

Speaking about European integration since the end of World War II, Mme Lizin touched upon the difficulties surrounding liberalization of trade relations, judicial and financial reform within the EU context.

Baku, Azerbaijan-Popular Artist of Azerbaijan Mansum Ibrahimov and his students of the A. Zeynalov School of Music performed at Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy on April 15. Mr. Ibrahimov delivered a brief lecture on the history of mugam, its similarities and differences with other folk music of Iran and Central Asia, before treating the audience with renditions of classic muqams, including “Qarabagh Sikastasi” and “Susanin Daqlari”.

Baku, Azerbaijan-Students enrolled at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy’s master’s program in International Affairs and Diplomacy (MADIA) and Advanced Foreign Service Program (AFSP) held a series of activities to celebrate the fourth anniversary of ADA. It worth to mention that on the March 6, 2006, President Ilham Aliyev issued a Decree on the establishment of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
