Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy :: MADIA

MADIA is a two-year master's degree in international affairs. Designed for both Azerbaijani and International students, this program explores political, academic, social and economic issues with strong offerings over several disciplines. The coursework allows students to understand today's pressing international issues with a perspective that values both past and future. MADIA students choose from two specialization areas designed to meet their career goals. The specializations include:

International Security and Conflict Resolution

The International Security and Conflict Resolution (ISCR) specialization focuses on the evolution of international security and the factors affecting the security of nations, including armed conflicts. It emphasizes the increasing importance of regional security and the emergence of non-traditional security threats. The specialization goes beyond the traditional conceptions of security centered on military balance and confrontation, incorporating the growing role of economic and resource factors in conceptualizing security and armed conflict.

Caspian Basin Studies

This unique specialization offers an in-depth understanding of the Caspian region states and nations. It studies the region’s diverse and rich history and culture, demographic makeup, ethnic and territorial conflicts, economy and trade, geopolitics and issues of regional security. Students gain firsthand knowledge about intertwined and intricate relationships that exist among the Caspian Basin states and become experts in the affairs of this strategically important region.
