Edu Dialogues with Burcu Meltem Arik

This seminar will discuss the impact of climate and biodiversity crises on education. We will share developments in climate education worldwide and in Türkiye and give examples of resources from which we can monitor climate education. At the end of the seminar, the audience can express their experience on the need for climate education in Azerbaijan.

Burcu Meltem Arik works on education policies, environmental / nature education, sustainability education, climate change education, ecological literacy and blomimicry. Since 2017, Arik has implemented data-based K-12 education policy monitoring studies at Sabana University Education Reform Initiative. Previously, she worked with the Turkish Association for the Protection of Nature (DHKD), Nature Association (DD), UNEP, TEMA Foundation and cEitdi. Foundation. She taught Ecological Literacy and Sustainability, and Biomimicry at Istanbul Bilgi University between 2015-2020.

Arik is a member of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (EEC) and Common Worlds Research Collective and a board member of the Netwoth of Education Policy Centers (NEPC) and the Bugday Association for Supporting Ecological Living.

The Lecture will be provided in English, Translation into Azerbaijani language will also be provided.
