On February 28, 2020, the General Education Program of the ADA University’s School of Education organized a Public Speaking workshop under the theme of ‘Importance of Communication Skills in academic and professional life’.
The ADA University students, key speakers, and staff members gathered at the Large Auditorium to discuss the essentials of communication for understanding and delivering information completely and accurately. The most topical issues of the event were the positive impact of verbal and non-verbal communication and the main characteristics of skillful communicators. Speaking about the communication tools, the key speakers from public and private organizations, including ADA University, ‘Opalus Partner’, and Innovation Agency, shared their personal and professional experience with students and highlighted that effective communication practice increases leadership skills and self-esteem of individuals.
Namig Abuzarov, Program Director of the General Education Program said: "Being able to communicate in an effective manner is one of the crucial soft skills that future leaders need to acquire. Strong communication competencies like leadership, conflict resolution, critical thinking, teamwork, time and priority management feed all aspects from professional life to personal life."
Through the interactive event, the students gained practical advice for creating effective communication with peers, future colleagues, and prospective employers in academic and business life also were updated that strong communication abilities are among the top seeking skills in the competitive job market.
