Ambassador Amr Moussa receives honorary doctorate from ADA University
Rector Hafiz Pashayev with the recommendation of ADA University Senate conferred the degree of Honorary Doctor on Ambassador Amr Moussa, a former top Egyptian diplomat who served as the Secretary-General of the Arab League, for his contributions to development of peace and stability in the world.
The ceremony held at the General Assembly in the presence of the Senate members and Faculty was opened by Rector, where he recognized long and distinguished career of the honored guest. “During many years of public service, Ambassador Moussa has worked tirelessly to build a safer world” said Rector: “He has specifically advocated for global peace and dialogue between civilizations and various religions.”
In his own remarks Amr Moussa thanked ADA University for this honor. The politician shared his views on the current global developments, expressing concern for the efforts of the international community in addressing them. Ambassador stated that the world has to consider different collaboration platforms to efficiently manage the existing conflicts and called for enhanced political dialogue between civilizations.
Amr Moussa is in Baku at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to speak at the forum hosted by Nizami Ganjavi International Center. The annual forum promotes global learning, tolerance, dialogue and understanding.
This was the forth honorary doctorate convocation at ADA University. Previously the University Senate has conferred the title on Dr. Abdullah Gul, former Turkish President (2015), Dr. Frederick Starr, the founding chairman of the US-based Central Asia and Caucasus Institute at Johns Hopkins University (2014) and Dr. Anatoly Torkunov, Russian international relations scholar and Rector of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (2013).
