Participants of the Advanced Foreign Service Program visited Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan.

During their visit, the foreign participants of the Program from 22 countries learned about the destruction caused by nearly 30 years of occupation, including the devastation of Azerbaijan’s rich cultural and historical heritage in the liberated territories. They toured the Govhar Agha Mosque and viewed damaged monuments before exploring the Heydar Aliyev and Karabakh exhibition, organized to mark the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The foreign diplomats also visited the house-museum of Khurshidbanu Natavan and Shusha Castle, where they were briefed on the history of Shusha, its social and political importance in the region, and the construction of Shusha Castle.

The visit concluded at the Jidir Plain, where the foreign guests highlighted the importance of the extensive repair and reconstruction efforts underway, including the rebuilding of a city that had been almost entirely destroyed over the past three decades.

The two-week program featured lectures and presentations delivered by professional diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, professors and faculty members from ADA University and representatives from various organizations such as the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, SOCAR, ANAMA, the Karabakh Revival Foundation, and the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center).
