Research as a tool for building knowledge and facilitating learning is one of the strategic priorities of ADA University. ADA University has already initiated a range of research-based projects not only for enhancing its internal University research capacities but also for building and sustaining nationwide research network through strengthening research capacities of doctoral students, independent researchers, junior faculty members from various Baku-based higher education institutions and think-tank organizations, specifically in the field of social sciences. Funded by US Embassy Azerbaijan, ADA University School of Education has successfully finalized the first phase of the project on “Strengthening Research Capacities and Building International Partnership in Azerbaijan”. This phase of the project was specifically focused on the capacity-building of the project beneficiaries. Starting from October 2018 through March 2019, ADA University has offered semester-long, graduate-level courses on “ Social Research Methods” and “ Academic Writing” provided by University’s leading professors (Dr. Anar Valiyev, Dr. Vafa Kazdal, Dr. Lala Jumayeva). In addition, throughout this phase, a spectrum of short-term training was conducted by international experts to support project participants in their professional development and in improving their research skills.
On April 23, 2019, ADA University hosted the Graduation Ceremony to acknowledge the achievements of the project and the performance of the team and students. The ceremony was preceded by a small-scale conference where high-performing students presented their research studies. In addition, during the ceremony, the winners of the research grant were announced to represent Azerbaijan in various international conferences. At the end of the event, the project participants were awarded a Certificate of Completion.
