Master of Laws

Program Focus
The LL.M. Program at ADA University is designed to provide students with advanced legal education with a focus on the areas where law meets business and technology. While covering a wide range of legal topics, the program places particular emphasis on corporate law and the legal challenges posed by emerging technologies. Students further essential skills of legal writing, drafting, and research, which are critical for success in the modern legal profession.
Program Format
The LL.M. is a four-semester, part-time program. Classes are held three times per week: two evenings on weekdays from 17:00 to 21:00 and one daytime session on weekends. Students complete 96 credits across core and elective courses, culminating in either a Master’s Thesis (emphasizing in-depth independent research) or a Capstone Project (focusing on practical, real-world legal challenges).
Language of Instruction
The LL.M. Program at ADA University is taught in both Azerbaijani and English, reflecting the transnational nature of modern legal practice. As a result, applicants must demonstrate fluency in both languages to fully engage with the coursework and participate in class discussions.
Eligibility Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws or International Law (minimum 2.5 GPA): Applicants who have scored a minimum 2.5 GPA are eligible to apply. Exceptions may apply to candidates with additional academic achievements, significant work experience, or research background.
- English Language Proficiency: All applicants are required to submit one of the test scores below to meet the English language proficiency requirement. English test results must be sent directly to ADA University by testing center.
- Minimum 6.5 on IELTS Academic* or
- 120 in Duolingo English Test* or
- 83 on IBT (TOEFL Code 2093)* or
- 58 on PTE Academic*
*PTE and IBT tests taken at home are not accepted. PTE and IBT test results are accepted only if they are taken at a registered testing centre.
Applicants who meet one of the criteria below may apply for English Proficiency test waiver by contacting the Office of Admissions:
- The native language is English
- Studied at a degree level in English in an English-speaking country
- Has a degree from ADA University (except for dual-degree programs with GW University)
This waiver is subject to confirmation during the interview. Applicants whose waiver request is not confirmed will be required to take one of the language exams.
3. State Examination Center test: A minimum score of 50 is required for most programs with no minimum sub-score requirement. Any foreign language can be chosen for the exam.
We require the results of the master admission test by the State Examination Center (SEC). This test is required for citizens of Azerbaijan and international applicants who have Permanent Living Permit in Azerbaijan. This test requires a separate registration at SEC. Check the SEC webpage regularly for test dates and deadlines.
Applicants may apply for Fall 2025 admission with SEC test results of 2024 and 2025.
Prospective students may submit their application before taking this test, but the scores must be sent before the application deadline.

Admission to the LL.M. Program is a competitive, two-phase process:
- Application Submission: Complete your application through ADA University’s Graduate Admissions portal.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates participate in an evaluative interview with the Admissions Committee.
