The roundtable discussion on "Heydar Aliyev and the first reforms in Azerbaijani education" was held at ADA University

The roundtable discussion on "Heydar Aliyev and the first reforms in Azerbaijani education" was held at ADA University.

The roundtable discussion was jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Education and the School of Education at ADA University with participation of people who directly participated in the 1999-2003 education reforms, as well as executors of this process and education experts. At the event, the impact of these reforms on the formation of educational traditions that reflect our national identity and on the modern education system was discussed.

Dr. Vafa Kazdal, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, stated in her opening remarks that the successes in the contemporary educational environment are the result of reforms that took place at the time.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov discussed the incomparable contributions of national leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijan's education history. It was highlighted that Azerbaijani values are the foundation of both past and present education reforms.

Misir Mardanov, the head of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences recalled "Education Reform Program of the Republic of Azerbaijan" approved by the Decree of great leader Heydar Aliyev dated June 15, 1999. Indicating that this historical document reveals a contemporary perspective on the content and essence of national education, he evaluated the aforementioned reforms as their incorporation into global education.

The discussion was moderated by Ulviyya Mikayilova, Dean of the School of Education at ADA University.
